Meet Elisabeth Collins, Founder and Owner of MedAlign Innovative Solutions
Hi, I’m Elisabeth Collins, DNP, APRN-NP, and my journey in healthcare started long before I became a nurse. For over two decades, I’ve been dedicated to helping people navigate healthcare —from my early days as a Patient Access Registrar to assisting patients with billing concerns as an Insurance Department Team Lead at an accounts receivable firm. But my passion for patient care truly came to life when I became a nurse.
In 2012, I started my nursing career as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) at a large health system in Omaha, Nebraska. Two years later, I became a Registered Nurse after earning my Associate of Science in Nursing from Metropolitan Community College, followed by a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Nebraska. My journey then took me across the world, where I worked in the emergency department at the U.S. Naval Hospital in Okinawa, Japan—a challenging and rewarding experience that deepened my love for acute care.
Always eager to grow and expand my skills, I earned my Master of Science in Nursing from the University of South Alabama in 2018, specializing in advanced practice nursing. I’m proud to be dual board-certified as a Family Nurse Practitioner and an Adult-Geriatrics Acute Care Nurse Practitioner, with most of my experience focused on internal medicine as a hospitalist NP. In 2021, I completed my Doctor of Nursing Practice degree, also at the University of South Alabama. My residency and capstone project centered on stroke management, which led me to spearhead my facility’s achievement as the first certified stroke center in the region—one of my most fulfilling professional accomplishments.
Beyond the bedside, I’m passionate about preventing complications of chronic disease, acute stroke management, global health, and quality improvement. I also enjoy mentoring fellow nurses and connecting people with the right resources to help them succeed.
In 2022, I took my passion for healthcare a step further and founded MedAlign Innovative Solutions, a healthcare consulting and educational services company. We focus on quality improvement, developing care management programs, and providing nursing continuing education. Through MedAlign, I partner with primary and specialty care providers to implement and operate care management programs that improve patient outcomes and increase sustainability. Helping healthcare organizations optimize their operations while enhancing patient care is something I deeply believe in, and I love seeing the impact we make.
When I’m not caring for patients or working on a passion project, you’ll likely find me traveling, reading, playing the piano, or spending quality time with my husband and two children. I’m an active member of several professional organizations, including the Society of Hospital Medicine, the American Association of Nurse Practitioners, Nebraska Nurse Practitioners, and the American Heart and Stroke Associations. I also mentor other nurses through the Thriving Nurse Network and am a proud member of the National Nurses in Business Association and the Nurse Practitioners in Business Organization.
